Versions and Transactions

The paper describe typical problems that arise when running transaction and when using database versioning features. First, transactions and database versioning are considered separately. Database correlation (physical and conceptual) will be introduced as measure for dependency relations in a database and criteria for using different versioning and transaction strategies are affiliated depending on the degree of database correlation (database correlation factor).

Since transactions and data versioning interfere with each other, problems concerning transactions in a versioned database are considered in the last chapter of the article.

Versions and transactions are complicate concepts in data processing, which, unfortunately, interfere with each other. This article tries to affiliate combined version and transaction strategies that do not violate database consistency.
