Installing components

Installing a component means copying all resources related to the component to another project. In order to import component resources, one may select Services/Import Components from the Designer's or ClassEditor's main menu.

By default, the dialog shows the components provided by the ODABA resource database (ode.dev).In order to load components from any other ODABA resource database, the file selection button (top right) may be clicked and the desired resource database may be selected from the file dialog. When the selected file does not provide components, the list appears empty and one may choose another database.

One may select one or more components from the list. In order to get more information about the features of the component, one may click the About button. After selecting the components to be installed in the list (activating check box field for corresponding list entries), one may chose whether to copy documentation or not. By default, copying documentation for the resources is enabled. In order not to copy documentation, the Documentation box has to be switched off.

When one or more of the selected components support an OSI interface, one may switch on the OSI option in order to install the OSI version rather than the C++ or C# version (default). Classes, which do not provide an OSI implementation are copied with their original implementation language.

Resources copied to the resource database are listed in the output area an bottom of the designer. After copying component data, this often has to be adapted to the current project resources.
