classification

A classification is a type that describes a method, which divides a group of objects completely into distinct subsets by means of categories, i.e. a classification is a conceptual, often hierarchically structured, set of mutually exclusive categories.

A classification consists of a number of category definitions. Typically, classifications are used as the base for an enumerated data type.
