Reference Wizard
ODABA distinguishes between references, which describe a part-of relationship and relationships, which define associations between objects. Thus, referenced instances belong exclusively to the structure instance referring to them and cannot be referenced from any other location. Typically, references are used for defining large text fields or transient references of different kind (see also ODABA-base documentation Reference documentation/ODABA Model reference/Data model/References . For defining new references, the reference wizard might be called from the reference list, which can be activated by clicking the References tab on the Members tab for the selected data type.
The reference wizard cannot be used for updating reference properties, which has to be done directly in the reference editor form right of the list.
The following chapters describe scenarios for defining different types of references. When confirming changes in the wizard with Finish , the ready and checked mark for the selected data type will be reset and the data type will be displayed orange in the class tree instead of green. Updated data types need to be checked before being used in the application. One may use the check button above the member list for checking the selected data type.
