Translating labels and tool tips

Labels and tool tips are text definitions mainly used in an application. Online help is important, but not be displayed as often as labels/titles and tool tips. Hence labels and tool tips need revision from time to time, which id difficult to achieve by going through all GUI resource elements.

It is useful agreeing upon some general text guidelines concerning spelling (usage of lower and uppercase letters in labels and tool tips), but also concerning content (do not simply repeat the label/title in a tool tip). Moreover, one may reduce the number of tool tips and labels, when defining tool tips and labels for controls (field control, event action control) instead of defining them for fields or event actions. This may, however, not work properly in all cases, e.g. when referring to standard controls as STRING ::_LineEdit .

In order to review or translate text definitions, Services/Translation may be selected from the main menu. The translation window lists two regions, one for GUI classes and the second for event action controls. Expanding the regions allows revising label/title and tool tip texts or translating those into another language in order to support multilingual GUI applications:
